2-Week Bell Rope Repairs

Avon Ropes Ltd aims to repair any bell rope, as standard sent to us in a 2-week period or the same day whilst you wait (*).

There are very few bell ropes we are unable to repair - if you're not sure, please email us a photo.

We often exceed this expectation, but allowing ourselves a 2-week window means we have flexibility to move work around, account for any leave of our team to fit your repairs in. It does not serve us well to hang on to your bell ropes for weeks or even months; it’s therefore in our interest to repair the ropes and send them back to you. The repair 2 week repair service doesnt include for making new sallies.

A complete machine spliced un-tucked Hemp tail end below the sally (any length) will be £58.00 each
We can replace the top ends on existing ropes generally with 3 strand Pre-Stretched polyester, short splices are £27.00 each plus the cost of the rope.
Machine Splices are £36.00 each including 4 feet (1.2m) of natural fibre rope ready for short splicing (this can only be done when we are making new natural fibre rope to add to existing).
10mm 3 strand Pre-stretched polyester top end rope is £1.40/foot (£4.59/m)
Re-heat setting 'springy' PSP top end rope - £POA
Trimming sallies to neaten up, reduce in diameter, or re-tapering top ends of ropes made by others £21.00 ea
Same Day or Whilst You Wait service - For an additional £20.00 per bell rope we offer Same Day (within 1 working day of receipt) turn around on all of the above rope repairs*.

If you rope has broken, we need from 6" of rope above or below the sally to be able to put a machine splice into it. If it's frayed at the top of the sally, that is repairable too, but you may loose a couple of inches of sally in the process.

The turnaround will be approximately 2 weeks from receipt on repairs. We would ask you to tape, tie with string or knot any rope that may have broken to prevent it unravelling further in the post.

Sending us your bell rope
Bell Ropes can be put into a box or a bag, but please make sure it's firm and secure. The ropes wont break in transit, but the boxes or bags need to stay together to hold the ropes in.

Please attach a label or marker to your bell rope to let us know who owns it which means we can get it back to you.
Please include;
- a note what you require done to the rope(s)
- a return address
- invoicing party
- mobile phone number (for tracking and for us to call you if we have queries)
- email address (unless communicated by email)

We dont mind how you want to send us a parcel, but some people ask us to suggest a carrier. You can either use Post Office, but there are other couriers easily available on parcel comparison websites such as;

We have no control over either of those providers or the providers they recommend but our customers have successfully used them; you send the ropes via your courier at your own risk.

Under the “Listed Places of Worship Scheme"(LPWS), your PCC or chapter should be able to receive a grant up to the value of the VAT on bell ropes. Please see https://www.avonropes.co.uk/vat.html for more details.

All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT at 20% which will be charged on the invoice.

* Surcharge applies to same day turn around, please contact us prior to attending expecting this service, with details of the ropes to be repaired and the number of ropes you require repairing. This is for repairs undertaken within normal working hours.
