Bell Rope Prices
We undertake all bell rope repairs within 2 weeks (not new sallies) and the details of repairs can be found here.
In 2026 we have introduced a quicker turnaround of single bell ropes. Please call or email us and see what we can do.
Our lead time for orders of multiple new bell ropes (inc. new sallies) has been circa 6 months consistently over the last 10 years. We have been working on improving this. We have visibility of all of our orders and can predict when bell ropes ordered will be manufactured.
Bell ropes traditionally have a 3ft (0.9m) long sally, with up to 3 colours and typically about 10ft long tail end. We feel the manmade fibre rope end rope provides a better solution than using natural fibres throughout the top end. We have 3 different top end ropes to choose from, 3 strand pre-stretched polyester, our UHMPP or Dyneema.
We are the only supplier making 100% British Wool Bell ropes.
We machine splice manmade fibre top end rope in about 2 feet (0.6m) above the sally. Otherwise, the tail end and rope through the sally is a natural fibre, generally hemp.
Please see our delivery page for delivery costs.
In addition to the below we also offer 8mm 3 strand Pre-Stretched Polyester (PSP) and also 8mm Dyneema Top ends which are often on bells with shorter 2ft (61cm) or 2ft6 (76cm) long sallies. 8mm top ends are lighter, but certainly with the 8mm Dyneema top ends are ideal for long draft lightweight rings
We have Dyneema rope prices available on request also with either 8mm, 10mm or 12mm top ends.
It's customary for larger top ends to be used on bigger bells, but there is no reason why a 10mm rope wouldn't work on all larger bells. The breaking strain of 10mm pre-stretched polyester rope is circa 2300kg at which point it may be 8% longer, whereas 10mm Dyneema rope is 5500kg and at the same 2300kg, may experience 2.7% stretch (please note these stretch percentages are at these massive loads, so not representative of loads bell ropes will expect to see, but gives a high level example of how much lower stretch Dyneema rope is. Please note, our bell ropes are not intended for lifting applications or for exceeding loads normally found in church bell ringing.
We have developed our UHMPP Braided top end rope has similar zero stretch performance to Dyneema top ends, but comes at a cheaper price point because they have a polyester core instead of a Dyneema one. It has a similar breaking strain to the 3 strand pre-stretched polyester but very similar stretch characteristics to Dyneema in the 0-100kg range.
UHMPP looks like the braided "Dyneema", it performs like a "Dyneema" bell rope, but it isnt.

Please email us for a quotation with Dyneema top ends.
For lengths above 65 feet overall length, we normally suggest considering the UHMPP or Dyneema top ends as they both exhibit better stretch qualities.
* the primary decision to choose these ropes will be for low noise where they pass through ceilings. Unless that is an issue, we suggest choosing 3 strand PSP as there's little benefit in considering anything other than 3 strand pre-stretched top ends.
The above prices are subject to change without notice.
The above prices are exclusive of VAT and subject to VAT at 20%. Please see our notes on our VAT page.
